BASFORD UNITED - FSA PRO, FRIENDLY

Updated: Aug 1, 2019

Today our Pro squad travelled to National Alliance opponents Basford United, and on reflection we had enough chances to win 2 games but we just wasn’t clinical enough in front of goal.

The first half started brilliantly for the boys as they took control of the ball moved it well and created numerous chances in the first 20 minutes however it wasn’t until James March broke the deal lock on the 25 minute mark FSA took the lead. 1-0, however chances where coming thick and fast for the boys. But it was Basford who then broke forward and managed to level the game against the run of play, this was then followed by another as they scored direct from a corner. 2-1 Basford at half time.

The half time instruction was for FSA to move the ball a bit faster and look to create overloads out wide and straight away Cory Holdom supplied a fantastic ball across the face of goal, however we couldn’t convert the chance. But once again Basford hit on the counter attack and after a superb finish they went 3-1 up. FSA continued to dominate possession and where able to get one back through Chris Larter, however it felt like on of those day for FSA where we just couldn’t find that cutting edge in front of goal on a consistent basis. The game ended 3-2 Basford however against a strong Basford side who themselves had senior first team players, we can take positives from it and learn from our mistakes, leading into our must win final league game next week against Notts County.

Man of the match: Jovan Singh

Final Score: 3-2
