Eight (8) FSA PRO players represented Aylestone Park in the FA Youth Cup this week, beating Notts County FC 3-2 at the Meadow Lane Stadium.
It was a great experience for all the young players on show as they competed in the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup at Notts County’s famous Meadow Lane Stadium. Aylestone Park started on fire as our very own Aaron Nuttall assisted and scored 2 goals inside the first 15 minutes. AP couldn't have asked for a better start as Aaron Nuttall went down the left-hand side and cut the ball back to man of the match Will Warren to slot home from 12 yards.
Just 2 minutes later Nuttall was fouled inside the box and won a penalty, which he calmly converted into the bottom corner. If the start couldn’t have gone any better Nuttall was brought down for a 2nd time, which ended with the same result. AP 3-0 up with just 15 minutes played.
The game then settled down, but neither team was able to create any real chances. Until the 30-minute mark when Notts County got one back to make it 3-1 at the break.
The 2nd half was a much tougher test for AP as Notts County where on the front foot causing problems in our final third. They then made it 3-2 and there was still 20 minutes to go. But AP knew if they stood tall and defended as a unit they would come away with the win. That is exactly what they did! They were able limit chances and keep the ball away from their final third.
The full time whilst blew and the celebrations started!! We managed to hold on to the one goal lead and progress to the 3rd qualifying round, which is drawn after all fixtures have taken place on Friday night.
It was a very proud night for all involved.
Man of the Match: Will Warren
