FSA Pro Leicester began their 2022-23 CAT 1 league campaign with a solid win away from home against Pro Direct Academy Northampton.
PDA Northampton is always a tough place to play, they are well organised and strong physically. But FSA stood up to the test and controlled the game for the first 15 minutes and they got their opening goal as Sam Carroll went through 1v1 and calmly slotted home. 1-0.
PDA then came back strong and started to play in the FSA half, however FSA stayed well organised and limited PDA to very few if any chances as the half time whistle was blew.
In the second half FSA changed the shape to a 4-3-3 and look solid throughout defending well and keeping PDA at bay. FSA had to go a little more direct than usual, but it exploited the PDA weakness with balls over the top, allowing Aaron Nuttall space to run in behind and cause PDA to drop back. On the 70-minute mark, FSA gained a corner which was brilliantly delivered by Sam Carroll and Charley Kilburn was on hand to head home. 2-0.
From then on FSA managed the game well and stopped PDA from creating any clear-cut chances.
FSA Pro Leicester next fixture is Wednesday 21st September as South Gloucester College travel to us in what is set to be a tough game following their opening day win Vs Future Pro.
