It was game day in London as our PRO Scholars (10Coaching) took to the pitch in the first competitive game of the season in the ECFA Cat 1 Premier division vs Aldershot Town.

It was a nervous 10 minutes as both teams pushed for the opener and started to make errors at the back. Aldershot took advantage of a defensive error and punished us on the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Both teams started to tighten up their defence but it was Aldershot who took a 2-0 lead with a fantastic long range shot. Our scholars then took advantage of the game and started to move the ball well creating numerous chances. Aldershots defence was finally broken as Jake Harvey curled in a fantastic free kick 5 minutes before half time to make it 2-1, however that wasn’t it for the first half as Aldershot were awarded a penalty in the last minute of the first half and calmly slotted home to make it 3-1 at the interval.
Half time brought a change of shape and 2 changes in personnel as we tried to bring ourself back into the game. The changes paid off instantly and we were back the game as Matas Stasiulaitis tapped home from 5 yards to make it 3-2. Game on!
As our boys pushed for the equaliser we were hit twice by counter attacks and it seemed game over as Aldershot took a 5-2 lead with 30 minutes to go but that wasn’t the case. With all subs now made, up stepped Manfous Vidoly who stabbed home twice in 10 minutes to bring us right back in the game and with 10 minutes to play, the game sat at 5-4.
Our boys pushed and pushed for the draw and deep into stoppage time we were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Jordan Bridge curled an effort bottom right of the goal and sent our boys wild as he made it 5-5 and the final whistle blew on the first game of the season.
