FSA started brightly, dominating possession from the outset. Their strong early play was rewarded when Cooke pressed relentlessly, beating the goalkeeper to a loose ball and finishing well to make it 1-0.
FSA continued to look the stronger side for the remainder of the half, though Pro Direct did threaten on occasions, forcing Spencer into a couple of good saves to keep the advantage intact.
Half-Time: FSA PRO Leicester 1-0 Pro Direct Northampton
FSA began the second half exactly as they ended the first, on the front foot and pushing for more. Their pressure paid off when the Pro Direct goalkeeper spilled a shot, allowing Collier to react quickest and fire into the roof of the net for 2-0.
Shortly after, the Pro Direct keeper was forced off injured — a moment that gave FSA an extra lift in confidence. The momentum soon told, as Kane struck twice in quick succession to make it 4-0.
Just as the game looked settled, Pro Direct produced a superb volley from the edge of the box, finding the side netting to pull one back.
FSA had the final say, however, as Jones calmly slotted home late on to score his first Cat 1 goal and seal a dominant 5-1 victory.
