FSA Pro Leicester maintained their unbeaten start to the season against a very strong South Gloucester side who were a new opponent to the CAT 1 league.
The first half began evenly matched with both teams sharing possession early on. Denzel Fuzane fired over after 5 minutes in what was the best of the opening chances.
Just as South Gloucester were putting FSA under pressure and looking like opening the scoring, they were down to 10 men after one of the players kicked out at Charley Kilburn retaliating to a challenge.
With a man advantage South Gloucester dropped to a low press allowing FSA to control possession in their own half. Despite controlling possession FSA were only able to create a couple of chances with South Gloucester looking dangerous on the break.
This proved the case after FSA lost possession in the middle third South Gloucester countered at pace to finish clinically into the corner to take the lead. FSA Continued to have more of the ball but chances were at a premium with Leo Alkan-Ryan coming close with an excellent save from the opposition GK to keep the home team out until half time.
At half time FSA changed formation which allowed more width to try and stretch the Away team defence. Ben White came close to scoring with a header that hit the crossbar after an excellent cross from Charley Kilburn. Despite remaining to have more of the ball South Gloucester held strong until Sam Carroll equalised in the 63rd Minute after a long-range effort caught out the GK into the top corner of the goal.
With the scores level South Gloucester remained dangerous on the counter and missed a huge opportunity in the last second of the game but was unable to finish a chance that looked easier to score. Both teams can take positives from the game but know there is a long way of the season remaining.
