Positive League Start for FSA PRO Cat. 2b Leicester Team

Our Cat. 2b team got their league campaign started today vs Corby Town, and they managed to come away with all 3 points.

It was a nervy start from our boys, and we didn’t reach the standards that we had set during pre-season. We were then punished for this as Corby took a 1-0 lead early into the game. After 20 minutes we had found our feet and started to move the ball much better, and counter press with more effect when losing possession.

Then after 32 minutes, Sam Carroll whipped in a free kick which found Kian Todd at the back post. We drew level and where on the front foot. Just before the break we took the lead trough Sam Carroll after he hit a great volley into the bottom corner, we went in leading 2-1 at half time but where unhappy with the flow of our play.

The 2nd half was a much different story, and we asserted our dominance on the game. We moved the ball at a much quicker tempo and where patient in possession waiting for an opening to occur, then just 10 minutes into the 2nd half Louie Pipe won a penalty (video below) which Sam Carroll converted with confidence. Corby did pull a goal back after a mix up defensively, but FSA controlled the game and sealed it through Aiden Lockett to make it 4-2 and secure the victory.

Overall, it was a good 3 points but we certainly have areas for improvement going into out next fixture.

Man of the match: Sam Carroll
