Goals: Olly Whiting, Harrison Boot, Evan Kane

FSA Pro Leicester came into this game knowing they faced a tricky assignment away from home against the reigning cup holders, who had made the perfect start to the season with two wins from two in the league.

Confidence in the FSA Pro Leicester camp was sky-high, though, as they had not only matched that six-point return but had scored 16 goals in doing so.

It was FSA Pro Leicester who flew out of the blocks and went 2-0 up inside 15 minutes. First, a brilliant threaded pass from Evan Kane released Olly Whiting one-on-one with the keeper, and he coolly slotted home. This was shortly followed by the goal of the game, as Neale, Kane, Whiting, and Cooke combined superbly with one-touch passing and flicks to find Harrison Boot unmarked just inside the area. He curled a fine effort into the bottom corner to double the lead.

Pro Direct Northampton quickly regrouped and pulled one back in the first half with a well-executed counter-attack to make it 2-1.

FSA Pro Leicester still looked the more threatening, creating numerous chances, before Evan Kane latched onto a pass from Aidan Neale. He drove past two defenders and delicately lifted the ball over the keeper to restore a two-goal cushion and give Leicester a 3-1 half-time lead. It could, and perhaps should, have been more.

Half-time: FSA 3-1 Pro Direct Northampton

The second half began with FSA Pro Leicester knowing the next goal would be crucial. Despite their first-half dominance, they struggled to find rhythm after the restart. Pro Direct Northampton were awarded a dubious free kick, which was delivered into the box and met by a late runner at the back post to reduce the deficit to 3-2.

FSA Pro Leicester weathered the storm until the closing moments, when a long ball was not dealt with by the defence. A Pro Direct Northampton midfielder managed to poke it past the goalkeeper to level the game at 3-3, with the points shared.

It was a game of two halves, where FSA Pro Leicester could have been out of sight by half-time, but credit goes to Pro Direct Northampton for their comeback to earn a point. The result keeps FSA Pro Leicester top of the table after three games.
