After a long wait for our teams and staff, FSA has finally returned to competitive football. Our boys and girls showed their happiness and desire to be back competing with some amazing results.
FSA PRO London
Our scholars were in action across 3 games this week, a showcase game and the first league game of the new summer series.
Our first game of the week came against newly promoteed League 1 side Cheltenham Town FC on Tuesday evening (Read full match report here). A well-rounded performance was rewarded by FSA drawing the game.
Our second and third game came against our local rivals Kinetic in the league (Read full match report here). Our CAT 1 squad travelled away to Whyteleafe and our CAT 2 squad faced the challenge at home. The CAT 1 fixture was a fierce challenge, two goals from Nathan Best and a goal from Dominic Fisher led us to a comprehensive 3-0 win.
The earlier kick-off was the CAT 2 fixture at Tooting and Mitcham, a well taken volley from Marcus Anwar gave us the lead 8 minutes in, however this was followed by a difficult 30 minutes where we conceded 4 goals and finished the first half 4-1 down. The second half was a complete change after conceding early from kick-off. The team played with a new intensity and took the game to them. Two quick goals from Kyle Scott and Souleman Ba looked to inspire the home team to keep working to find another two goals. An outstanding individual run and well placed finish by Mauricio Gil Bejarano in the 79th minute gave the boys hope. However, the task to find another goal to undo the damage in the first half was too much and FSA unfortunately fell to a 5-4 defeat.
FSA PRO Leicester
It has been a busy but rewarding week for our Leicester Scholars. We had 4 competitive fixtures and came through unbeaten with 1 draw and 3 wins, as well as traveling to Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night and where able to come away with a 1-1 draw against the newly promoted League 1 side. Our CAT 1 squad travelled to a strong Brooke House team and managed to dig deep to secure a good point away from home, and our two CAT 2 teams beat Lincoln City 2-1, and Derby College 9-1, in what where very dominant performances from our players. To top the week off our girls managed their biggest ever victory by beating Hereford College 14 -1 to put 3 points on the board, and put them in a strong position going into next week's game.
All of our teams are in action again this coming week as our CAT 1 side take on FuturePro Academy, the CAT 2 sides take a role reversal and play Lincoln City and Derby College, and our girls travel to Newcastle Stafford College on Friday. Victories in these games will put us in great stead in our quest to qualify into the knockout stages.
Our 1st year scholars have an exciting opportunity on Monday as we have Future Elite coming in to talk to them about the potential of going University in the USA, as our current 2nd years are one step closer to securing their spots for September.
Education
London: It’s getting to the busy end of the season in the classroom. The final units have been started and we are looking to complete them in the next two weeks. The units that are being worked on currently are individual team sports and practical team sports. Both are very engaging and full of practical elements which we expect the boys to enjoy.
Leicester: In this week's education we will be looking at the nutrition of a professional athlete, as well as completing a performance analysis on individual and team performances using our VEO camera technology.
Elite Centre
London: The Elite Centre was busy this week with the U12/13s traveling away to Steve Gale soccer school and then the U14/15’s reverse fixture on the Thursday. The U12s faced a new experience playing five aside in a court. The squad impressed by adapting their style of play to the new environment. The boys showed great technical Understanding and tactical knowledge to perform against a good opposition.
The U14/15’s game against SGSS was a close game, The boys played well in phases and in possession looked a threat. Defensively FSA were excellent with great individual performances from Sonny Cooper and Callum Peach nullifying a lot of the oppositions play. An early goal gave us the lead but after conceding just before half time and again just before the final whistle the game finished 2-1 to Steve Gale Soccer School.
Leicester: Monday night sees the return of our Elite Centre after a week off due to the Bank Holiday, and we also welcome back our up-and-coming U16 scholars, 5:30pm - 7pm @ Aylestone Park FC.
